Why you'd reach for a pre-cleaner like the Copo Star BMP-T

In commercial vehicle and machinery care there's grime a single cleaning pass simply won't fully shift: baked-on engine oil on blocks, hydraulic oil films under vehicle bodies, old grease build-up on axles and running gear, or the soot film that piles up on commercial vehicles over time. The Copo Star BMP-T "Cst" is designed for exactly this class of job. The high-alkaline pH breaks down polymerised greases and oils that heat has baked onto metal surfaces. You lay the Copo Star BMP-T down before the actual wash step and let it dwell — it breaks the bond between the grime and the surface underneath, so the main wash that follows runs far more efficiently.

How to use it and how to dose — getting the pre-cleaner right

Spray or apply the Copo Star BMP-T neat or lightly diluted, depending on how heavy the grime is. Watch the dwell time — anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes depending on temperature and how dirty the surface is. Then work it off with a pressure washer or brush. Don't use it on hot surfaces, and keep it out of direct sun while it dwells. Not suitable for painted surfaces — the high pH can attack paint and coatings. Protective gear (gloves, eye protection) is a must when you handle it.

Detailing1's tip from the shop: Never use the Copo Star BMP-T on a warm engine or in the midday sun — the product flashes off faster and the dwell time shortens on you uncontrollably. Best results at room temperature or on slightly pre-warmed surfaces (hand-warm). After rinsing, follow up with Cosmo-Clean "Cc" to neutralise any leftover residue from the alkaline pre-cleaner.

Copo Star BMP-T vs. Green Star — which one for which job?

Where the Koch-Chemie Green Star BMP is a versatile all-rounder for moderate to medium grime, the Copo Star BMP-T is built for the extreme stuff the Green Star can't handle. Rule of thumb: if the Green Star won't get you clean in two passes, reach for the Copo Star as a pre-cleaner. After the Copo Star BMP-T, always finish with a milder cleaner to fully remove any residue from the alkaline cleaner.
