What are GYEON Q² Ceramic Coatings? The Q² line covers professional SiO₂-based ceramic coatings for paint, glass, wheels, leather, PPF and fabric – developed for keen enthusiasts and certified pro detailers who are after repeatable, long-term protection.
GYEON Q² Ceramic Coatings are the core of what GYEON does, and the reason the South Korean company made its name worldwide. The „Q²“ tag stands for Quartz Squared – a nod to the double silicon-dioxide structure behind many products in the line. The Q² coatings build a semi-permanent, inorganic layer that bonds chemically to the car's paint or substrate – far more durable than a traditional wax or a simple polymer sealant. And the range is deliberately split: whatever the surface, the ambition level or the type of user, there's a formulation to match – from approachable single-layer coatings to complex two-layer systems for certified pro detailers.
Day-to-day from Detailing1: how long a Q² coating lasts – and how it looks – comes down mostly to the prep underneath. Before you lay any coating down, degrease the paint thoroughly after washing and decontamination – ideally with an IPA-based degreaser. On paint with defects (holograms, scratches, oxidation) we'd run a full correction polish with the Q²M Polishing line first, before the coating goes on.
GYEON's Q² paint coatings are the heart of the Ceramic Coatings line. The Q² Mohs+ EVO is the most approachable pro coating in the range – single-step, high coverage and one of the strongest water-repellent finishes in its class. Perfect if you don't want a two-step job but still want maximum SiO₂ load and paint hardness. The Q² Syncro system is built differently: it runs a base layer (Base) and a top layer (Top). The base anchors deep into the clear coat and maxes out adhesion; the top sets the beading behaviour and the optical depth. This one is aimed at certified detailers chasing the longest possible durability and real optical brilliance. Either way, one thing rules: the flash-off time before you wipe is everything. Wipe too early and it won't cross-link properly; too late and you're left with residue that's a pain to shift. Tight, clearly defined working windows are a GYEON hallmark – and the application guide spells them out to the minute.
Beyond paint coatings, GYEON Q² offers dedicated coatings for every other surface on the car. The Q² glass coating (View) measurably improves how a windscreen sheds water – droplets bead off at speed and your view in the rain gets clearer. At the same time the formula is built to take the mechanical hammering of the wiper blades – a common weak spot with products that aren't purpose-made for glass. For wheels there's the Q² Rim Coat – more heat-tolerant than a standard coating and built for the specific abuse of brake dust, heat and alkaline cleaners. For leather, the Q² Leathershield protects the hide against UV fade, grease and moisture without sealing it up or leaving it unnaturally shiny. For PPF wraps, the Q² PPF Coat gives ideal compatibility with the film's structure, maxes out the beading and makes upkeep far easier. The wheel, tyre and plastic coating and the leather and fabric coating round out the full protection package for any vehicle.
Applying a Q² Ceramic Coating properly starts long before you open the bottle. The paint has to be clean, decontaminated and free of any wax, oil or polishing residue – a careful pre-wash, clay bar and IPA wipe aren't optional extras, they're mandatory. Then you lay the coating on thin and even with the applicator supplied. Film thickness matters more than quantity here: too much product at once cross-links unevenly. The working window shifts with ambient temperature and humidity – warmer and it tightens up, cooler and you get more room to play with. After you buff it off with a clean microfibre, keep the car away from any moisture for at least 24 hours. Only once it's fully cured (7–14 days depending on the product) is the coating performing at its best. For the long haul, the matched Q²M Maintenance products are the way to go – they're gentle on the coating and actively top the beading back up.
Put head-to-head with the other pro coating brands – CarPro (Cquartz), Gtechniq or IGL Coatings – GYEON Q² stands out for how well thought-out its range is and how clearly it talks to the user. CarPro Cquartz is strong in the SiO₂ segment too, but offers fewer substrate-specific coatings. Gtechniq scores with a very science-led approach and long durability, but its pricing leans even more towards the professional trade. GYEON takes the middle road: properly science-backed, yet with a well-structured DIY entry point – the Q² Mohs+ EVO especially. If you're going to invest once in a complete protection system and you won't compromise on durability, looks or application quality, GYEON Q² is one of the best calls on the market.
At Detailing1 you'll find all the current GYEON Q² Ceramic Coatings, each with a full product description, application guides and accessory tips. Not sure which coating fits your car, your paint's condition and the way you look after it? Start with the individual product pages. The Q² Mohs+ EVO suits keen users with no pro background who want maximum performance from a simple system. The Q² Syncro system is built for certified detailers. And if you want to get ready for the Q² coatings first, take a look at the Q²M Polishing line for the paint correction and the Q²M Maintenance products for keeping things going after the coating's on.
